Practical Support. Brighter Futures.

Littleton Community Services is a community-based organization established to help people navigate the practical challenges that can stand between where they are today and where they want to go next. Sometimes the problem is housing. Sometimes it is employment, transportation, benefits, paperwork, technology, recovery, or simply not knowing where to begin. Often, several challenges are happening at the same time.

Littleton Community Services exists to help people identify what they need, understand the options available to them, connect with existing resources, and work through the practical steps necessary to move forward.

Our approach begins with a simple idea: people should not have to understand an entire system before they can for help.

You do not need to know which agency handles a particular problem, which program you may qualify for, which form you need, or whom you are supposed to call. You only need to know that something is not working and that you could use some help figuring out what comes next. And that is where Littleton Community Services can help.

People. Resources. Solutions.

Littleton Community Services provides practical assistance and resource navigation in areas including housing and housing stability, employment and income, public benefits, transportation, identification and vital documents, technology and online services, paperwork and administrative needs, healthcare and community-resource navigation, and other barriers affecting stability and independence. Whenever an existing organization or program can meet a person's needs, our goal is to help make that connection work. We believe in collaboration before duplication.

The North Country has many organizations, agencies, professionals, volunteers, and community members doing important work. Littleton Community Services is not reproducing those services. Instead, we are here to help people find those services, access them, and navigate the spaces that sometimes exist between them. Where practical gaps remain, we will look for ways to help address them.

More Than a Referral

Being given a telephone number or website is not always the same as getting help. A person may need assistance completing an application, accessing an online portal, understanding what documentation is required, locating another resource after the first one does not work, or simply keeping track of several moving pieces at once. Our goal is not merely to tell someone where they might find help. It is to help them navigate the process and, where appropriate, follow through to determine whether the connection actually worked.

That approach can be summarized simply: Identify the need. Find the resource. Make the connection. Work through the barriers. Keep moving forward.

Supporting Agency and Independence

Littleton Community Services is grounded in respect for personal agency. Our role is not to take ownership of another person's life or make decisions for them. It is to provide information, practical assistance, connections, and support that can expand the choices available to them. Sometimes that means doing something for someone when an immediate barrier makes that necessary. Whenever possible, it means doing something with someone so that knowledge and confidence grow along the way. The ultimate objective is not dependence on Littleton Community Services. It is greater stability, greater capability, and greater independence.

Community-Based and Locally Rooted

Littleton Community Services operates in Littleton for the people who live, work, recover, struggle, rebuild, and make their lives in Littleton and the surrounding North Country. Our work includes practical community services as well as peer-support and community programs, including Recovery Day, an independent peer-support recovery program centered on agency, choice, connection, and growth.

Littleton Community Services is a privately owned social enterprise organized, not a nonprofit organization. We believe that community service does not have to depend entirely upon charitable giving. Our goal is to develop a sustainable organization capable of supporting meaningful community work while remaining transparent about who we are and how we operate.

At its core, the mission is straightforward: Prevent instability where possible. Reduce it where it exists. Help people regain independence wherever achievable.

Coming to Littleton in October

Littleton Community Services will open a local office in October, providing a place where community members can connect with us, ask questions, and learn more about available services and programs.

Have a question before we open? We would be glad to hear from you.
